Before Your Appointment

Before your first appointment, we ask that you gather any recent dental x-rays or related medical history. These documents will assist your doctor in making the most accurate diagnosis and treatment plan for you. If you have a referral from a general dentist, please bring that as well.

Your First Consultation

During your first consultation, your doctor will conduct a comprehensive examination of your oral health. This will include a review of your dental and medical history, as well as any relevant X-rays. If necessary, additional images may be taken at our office to determine the next steps for your treatment.

Understanding Your Treatment

Your doctor will explain the findings of your examination and discuss potential treatment options. Whether you need a root canal treatment, endodontic retreatment, or another procedure, rest assured that we will provide detailed explanations of each step. We aim to ensure that you are fully informed and comfortable with your treatment plan.

Post-Procedure Care

Should you undergo a procedure during your visit, we will provide you with comprehensive aftercare instructions. For instance, if you receive a root canal treatment, we will advise you to avoid eating until the numbness in your mouth wears off to prevent accidentally biting your cheek, lips, or tongue. We also recommend being careful while chewing on the treated tooth until it is fully healed.

Pain Management

We understand that dental procedures involve a level of discomfort, so we offer guidance on pain management. Over-the-counter medications such as Ibuprofen or Tylenol can be effective. In case of severe discomfort that cannot be controlled with these medications or if swelling develops, we encourage you to contact our office immediately.

Ongoing Care

At La Jolla Micro Endodontics, our care for patients extends beyond the office visit. Our team is committed to ensuring your complete recovery and long-term oral health. We coordinate with your general dentist for any necessary follow-up procedures and provide them with all relevant information of your treatment with us.
